A Study at the University of Bahrain Reveals a Positive Correlation between Human Resource Management Practices and Technological Innovation in the Banking Sector in Bahrain

A study, conducted at the University of Bahrain, concluded that there is a positive correlation between human resource management practices and technological innovation in the banking sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The study, submitted by the student in the Department of Management and Marketing, Zainab Ali Marhoon, in fulfillment of a requirement of master’s degree in human resource management, aimed to find out the correlation between recruitment, compensation, performance appraisal, training, participation in decision-making on the one hand and technological innovation on the other hand.

The findings of the study entitled “Human Resources Management Practices and Technological Innovation: An Applied Study in the Banking Sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain” showed that all the practices studied, including recruitment, compensation, performance appraisal, training, and participation in decision-making, have a positive correlation with technological innovation and almost have the same impact. The researcher pointed out that the findings of the study are highly important, and can help human resource managers, and policymakers in the banking sector as well as other sectors.

The researcher added that the findings of the study will help policymakers identify practices affecting technological innovation, which has become one of the most important issues in human resource management in all organizations, especially during the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19), as it has greatly contributed to adapting to changes.

The discussion committee consisted of the professor of the Department of Management and Marketing, University of Bahrain, Prof. Munawar Mallouh Al-Shamri as a supervisor, associate professor of the Department of Management and Marketing, Dr. Walid Abdulaziz Mohieldin as an internal examiner, and Professor Soud Al-Mahamid, Arabian Gulf University, as an external examiner.
