A study in the University of Bahrain (UoB) has found that human resources policies have a greater impact on the performance of institutions in the construction sector than they are affected by demographics and other characteristics.
The study was conducted on a sample of 154 employees from two different companies, and it concluded that the indirect impact of human resource policies on the performance of construction institutions is twice the direct impact. Also, the analysis showed that training, health and safety, and compliance are among the most important variables, while continuous improvement, recruitment, business support, communications, and change management are the least important.
The study was presented by the master’s student in Human Resources Management at the College of Business Administration, Habib Yousef Ahmed, under the title “The Role of Human Resources Policies in Promoting Institutional Success: Evidence from the Bahraini Construction Sector”, where he recommended ensuring that human resources policies are designed to achieve business objectives, with ensuring that it is constantly updated, and focusing on the risks that threaten institutions, while activating the role of appropriate policies to reduce losses, protect the health and safety of employees, in accordance with applicable laws, and ensuring compliance with these laws at all times, in addition to employing the appropriate competencies based on work needs, and ensuring the satisfaction of employees and enhancing their performance through incentives such as financial rewards, and other opportunities such as training.
