Al-Abdi Receives CEOs World Summit Award

Head of IT Department at the Information Technology Center of the University of Bahrain, Suhaib Mohammed Al-Abdi, was honored at World CEOs Summit 2020, as one of 10 top CEOs in the region in information technology. On Sunday December 5, 2021, in Ajman, the United Arab Emirates, Mr. Al-Abdi was nominated for the award among more than 250 CEOs from 34 countries.
The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al Mudhahki, affirmed that the university is proud of its academians, administrators and students as they have distinguished skills and remarkable abilities that enable them to create, innovate and compete in various scientific and professional fields, especially that of digital technology.
On Sunday December 12, 2021Al Mudhahki received Mr. Al-Abdi to congratulate him. On this occasion, she stated that, “The University of Bahrain is a conducive environment for creativity and innovation. The national university is proud that one of its affiliates is among the top 10 CEOs in a region characterized by intense competition in the technological field.
Chief of IT Department presented the current experience in using modern technologies and how they were taken advantage of during the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19). He also referred to the used technologies and their various forms, found on cloud computing of the largest companies providing global digital solutions such as Microsoft, Amazon, and others. He stressed that advance preparations, through the launch of these digital solutions and applications, contributed to the continuity of work at the university at the time of the Coronavirus pandemic.
For his part, Mr. Alabdi indicated that UoB could, in a short time, move all its systems to the Amazon cloud and take advantage of the available technical solutions. He stressed the need to keep pace with the latest technologies and adopt updates in all digital solutions that can develop and manage work.
He added, “It is always necessary to seek to prepare the environment through keeping pace with the digital transformation of the technical solutions available through cloud computing and advanced digital environments, and to seek to bring about the appropriate digital change for all executive functions in the work environment This is because digital transformation nowadays is one of the continuous and rapid processes, which provide digital solutions with the latest developments that should be used to the fullest extent possible”.
The conference was held over two days, and discussed more than 50 research papers presented by international specialists in various fields of technologies, including artificial intelligence, edge computing, 5G, and the latest developments in the field of digital transformation during the Coronavirus pandemic.
