An Academic at UoB classified As The First Bahraini Sustainability Expert Certified by GRI

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has ranked Dr. Sheikha Fai bint Abdullah Al Khalifa, Director of the E-Learning Center at the University of Bahrain (UoB), as the first Bahraini sustainability expert certified by the Initiative.
As individuals obtain accreditation in the field of sustainability by GRI after passing four courses and a final exam, which are: introduction to sustainability reporting, reporting according to the global reporting initiative standards in its updated version for the year 2021, human rights reporting with the update of the global reporting initiative standards for the year 2021, and integrating the Sustainable Development Goals into sustainability reports.
GRI is an international not-for-profit organization that empowers companies and institutions to report on their economic, environmental, social and corporate governance performance, and issues free sustainability reporting guidelines, and reports are issued to major local companies, such as: Aluminum Bahrain (Alba) and the National Bank of Bahrain, and major international companies such as ARAMEX, BLOOMBERG and DELOITTE using GRI standards.
Dr. Sheikha Fai bint Abdullah Al Khalifa – with the support of the Labor Fund “Tamkeen” – has obtained accreditation from GRI for Global Reporting Standards for the year 2021, an accreditation companies will use to report on their performance in the field of sustainability starting from January of the year 2023 after passing all accreditation requirements. Dr. Sheikha Fai bint Abdullah Al Khalifa is now the first Bahraini to be accredited by GRI and thus the Kingdom of Bahrain has been included among the countries that include sustainability experts accredited by GRI.
