Arab historians choose Professor Al Shehab as member of the Board of Directors

The Arab Historians Union chose Professor Ali Mansoor Al Shehab, Vice-President for Scientific Research, as member of the Union’s Board of Directors on the sidelines of the Union annual conference held recently in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

Professor Al Shehab expressed his pride in being a member of the Union Board of Directors saying that the Union is a window through which Arabs can see the history of the Arab Islamic civilisation; a gate to show the ancient history and the civilisations that created Bahrain island over the consecutive periods of time.

Professor Al Shehab pointed out that his membership will help show the history of Bahrain at the Arab and Islamic levels and emphasised that it will attract researchers to be interested in the writing of history in the Kingdom, which is an integral part of the Arab Islamic civilisation that went with its thoughts and culture beyond Arab borders to the world. In 2015 he received the Medal of Competence from His Majesty the King of Bahrain and in 2006 the Shield of Arab historians from Arab Historians Union.

Professor Al Shehab occupied many important academic and community positions including: member of Shura Consultative Council in Bahrain, Chair of the Board of Directors of the History and Antiquities Association of GCC Member States, founding member of Arab Historians Union, member of Academic Accreditation Committee in Bahrain, member of the Deans committee of Community Service and Continuous Education Centres in GCC countries, member of a number of advisory committees and bodies of Arab and Gulf scientific journals. He organised a number of annual academic gatherings for the History and Antiquities Association of GCC Member States; participated in tens of Gulf, Arab and international symposia and conferences; carried out research and studies published in refereed journals; refereed many research work and books for scientific publication and promotion of academic staff in Arab and Gulf universities; and contributed to the cultural and media field.
