As Part of the University’s Celebrations of the National Day UoB “Mathematics” Holds a Student Competition to Solve Puzzles and Mathematical Problems

As part of the University of Bahrain’s (UoB) celebrations for the glorious National Day, the Mathematics Department at the College of Science at UoB organized a competition for students to solve a number of mathematical puzzles and problems in various mathematics sciences.
The head of the Mathematics Department, Dr. Abdullah Jaafar Eid, honored the first three winners of the competition: Asif bin Ayoub from the Physics Department at the College of Science (first place), Ahmed Amir Saad from the Electrical Engineering Department at the College of Engineering (second place), and Mahmood Tariq from the Chemical Engineering Department at the College of Engineering (third place).
Dr. Eid indicated that the aim of organizing this competition is to encourage UoB’s students to participate in mathematical competitions, whether local or international, to raise community awareness of the importance and role of science in general, and mathematics in particular in all aspects of life, and to build a creative generation that is capable of dealing with the language of science.
For her part, Dr. Mayada Khalil Shehadeh, Head of the Community Communication Committee in the Mathematics Department, expressed her great joy at the level of performance of the three winners, pointing to their creative skills in critical analysis and problem solving.
The ceremony was attended by the head of the Mathematics Department, in addition to: Member of the Community Communication Committee, Dr. Mohammed Al-Arabi Al-Labi, and the Media Committee Coordinator, Dr. Thuraya Juma Abdullah.
Such competitions come within the continuous directions of UoB, to encourage its students to participate in various local and international competitions, to enhance their talents, stimulate their minds to think creatively, and solve problems, which develops students’ positivity in various life interactions
