Assistant foreign minister receives UoB president

Manama, Oct. 3 (BNA): Assistant Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabur Al-Doseri, received in his office at the Ministry’s General Court, the President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Professor Riyad Yusuf Hamzah.

The Assistant Foreign Minister praised the successful role of the University of Bahrain in designing academic and human rights programs that contribute to development of national cadres in various scientific fields.

Assistant Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted by the University of Bahrain, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to organise an academic conference on civil and political rights and the democratic experiment in the Kingdom of Bahrain which will contribute to promoting awareness and providing training regarding the International Human Rights law, the commitments of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its cooperation with the international mechanisms of the Human Rights Council and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The programmes also introduce the voluntary reviews submitted by Bahrain in this regard, which highlighted the progress and achievements of the Kingdom and its efforts to protect and promote human rights.

Professor Hamzah noted the close cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the University of Bahrain at all levels. He expressed UoB’s appreciation of the Foreign Ministry’s readiness to cooperate in organising the proposed conference and setting the appropriate date for its convening.
