Bahrain University Innovation Forum calls for technology to be used in establishing Business

News 22 10 2019 2aSpeakers at the fourth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum at the University of Bahrain agreed on the importance of entrepreneurs’ faith in themselves, to preserve, study the market, and have faith in the activity they will work in. Stressing the importance of benefiting from the solutions provided by IT in establishing and developing businesses.

The College of Information Technology at the university organized the fourth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum on Monday, October 21st, 2019. The forum aims to encourage students with the ability and desire in entrepreneurship to start new Information and Communication Technology ICT projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The forum – sponsored by the University of Bahrain President, Prof. Riyad Yousif Hamzah, was attended by a group of entrepreneurs who spoke on the subject, including a member of the United Nations Foundation Global Entrepreneurs Council (GEC) for the year 2013, and the Empowering a Billion Women by 2020 (EBW2020) movement led by Ingrid Vanderveldt. And entrepreneur Hussain Haji, who founded several companies, including Inagrab, which helps enterprises grow and expand through information analysis. The forum, which was held at the University of Bahrain, Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa’s Hall, on Sakhir Campus, was attended by students from five colleges at the university: Information Technology, Business Administration, Science, Applied Studies and Arts.

Dr. Mazen Mohamed Ali, the head of the organizing committee and head of the Department of Information Systems at the College of Information Technology said: “The past versions of the forum have seen a strong student turnout, which has encouraged us to continue to organize the forum.”

“The forum discussed ways to start a business in innovative ways, reviewing several successful experiences in this field,” he added, noting that the speakers come from several countries, The United States, the United Arab Emirates, and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Dr. Ali stressed the importance of students seeking to develop their skills and establish their technical work, especially as modern technology creates a wide range of opportunities for those who know how to take advantage of it, and that is what the speakers focused on.

Businesswoman Ingrid Vanderveldt spoke of the need for young people to be convinced of their abilities and not to repeat phrases such as “impossible”, and to take advantage of their relationship network to achieve their goals and move forward, stressing that modern technology creates opportunities for development, the Financial Services Technology (Fintech) market, for example, will reach $25 billion by 2020.

Entrepreneur Hussein Haji stressed the need to “not despair” when failing projects, pointing out his experience and how he faced many difficulties before he succeeded in establishing several companies.
