College of Information Technology at University of Bahrain Wins “Supporting Friend” Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE)

The Dean of the College of Information Technology at the University of Bahrain, Dr. Hessa Jassim Al-Junaid, declared that the College of Information Technology received a global recognition award, as a (Supporting Friend), from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE).

Dr. Al-Junaid explained that the College received this award in recognition for its contributions and activities in support of the IEEE branch in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as it sponsored and hosted several activities, including organizing competitions for students and holding some conferences.

The IEEE announced a recognition award at its annual conference, which was awarded to two institutions, one of which is the College of Information Technology at the University of Bahrain.

The Dean of the College of Information Technology, Dr. Hessa Al-Junaid, received the award from the former head of the Bahrain branch, Dr. Sheikha Eshaa bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, the current head of the branch, Dr. Ali Hussain Zolait, and the head of IEEE Computer Society in Bahrain, Dr. Resala Abdullah Al-Adraj.

The College of Information Technology organized the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Day on November 2, 2022, in collaboration with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE).

The College hosted three young entrepreneurs in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Each of them discussed the various elements of success, to motivate students to be entrepreneurs. The founder of ” SayG” software company, Sheikha Dr. Ishaa bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, spoke on the development of artificial intelligence, its future, and the opportunities available locally and internationally.

The founder and CEO of Wedeliver, Global and Enterprise, Dr. Adel Hubail, explained how he started implementation of (YOU) application, how it turned from a concept to reality, and the stages of the design process he followed to achieve the goal.

For her part, the founder of Beyound Borders Consultancy, Hala Suleiman, spoke on the importance of promoting sales when starting any business. She explained how the project can contribute to society’s development, as the “Alrawi” application was developed to revive the love of reading that distinguishes the Arab nation.

The activity was supervised by the head of the Student Activities Committee, Department of Information Systems, College of Information Technology, the head of IEEE Computer Society in Bahrain, Dr. Al-Adraj.
