Confucius Institute at the University of Bahrain Briefs Government Employees on the Chinese language program

The Confucius Institute at UoB has launched the seventh online Chinese language program for government employees with the aim of promoting friendship and cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the People’s Republic of China and developing Chinese education in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Ministry employees began their Chinese language lessons online in the last third of February and they will attend the three levels (primary, intermediate, and advanced) of the Chinese language learning program (HSK). The educational content focuses on practical topics to help government employees use the Chinese language better in communication tasks required in work and daily life situations.

The institute staff has recently held an opening ceremony of the new semester. So far, 22 government employees have enrolled in the program and more employees of several ministries and bodies will also join the program.

The director of Confucius Institute at the University of Bahrain, Qianwen Zhou, gave a welcome speech at the opening ceremony, in which she thanked the government employees for attending the orientation lecture. Dr. Zhou gave briefed the attendants on the content of the program and the tutors. She stated that the program is a good channel for government employees to learn the Chinese Language and understand Chinese culture.

The Chinese language teacher at the Confucius Institute, Chi Xiuen, referred to HSK test and the scholarship programs available for all. She gave a brief on the first semester which she oversaw and urged everyone to learn Chinese. In addition, the two tutors in the institute, Zhang Yanan and Ao Ziqi, provided information about the classes of the second and third levels.

It is worthy to note that the Institute has successfully held six courses of Bahrain government employees’ program since 2014 and attracted more than 100 employees from the various ministries.
