The exemption test for the preparatory English program will be held on Monday and Tuesday, September 2-3, 2024, for all incoming students from government and private schools admitted to the University of Bahrain. You will receive the exact date and time of the exam via SMS.

Viewing English Exam Date and Time on SIS*:

  1. Go to https://sis.uob.edu.bh/sign-in
  2. Click on UOB Admission Requests
  3. Click on  English Exam Information _ Undergraduate Students
  4. Enter your Student ID (user name) and your CPR (Password)

* This service is available only for new students admitted into the orientation program.

  1. Language Proficiency Assessment:  These tests help determine each student’s level of English proficiency, paving the way for students’ engagement in academic disciplines.
  2. Tailoring education to students’ needs:  Based on test results, students are categorized into different levels in the Orientation Program to ensure they receive the necessary language support.
  3. Ensuring academic success:  Placing students at the appropriate level in the Orientation Program helps to confirm their ability to succeed in their educational journey.
  4. Exemption from Orientation Program:  Students who demonstrate high proficiency in English can be exempted from the Orientation Program and start their majors directly.
  • Each student must bring an official ID to confirm their identity before taking the test.
  • Students will receive an SMS from the university with details of the test time and place. Be sure to review it carefully to know exactly where to go.
  • It is important to arrive at the test location early to avoid any delays.
  • It is preferable to use a black ballpoint pen to color in the answers and it is recommended to bring an additional spare pen to avoid any sudden problems.
  • If answers require correction, it is useful to bring a whiteout/corrector to modify any errors.
  1. Grammar:  Your understanding of English grammar covering the basic rules of the English language is assessed.
  2. Reading:  This section includes understanding texts and the ability to analyze. The student will read various passages and answer questions related to the content.
  3. Vocabulary:  This section assesses the student’s ability to understand and use English words in different contexts, requiring knowledge of the word’s meanings and uses.
  4. Writing Structures:  This section focuses on the technical aspects of writing such as spelling, punctuation, and sentence formatting. This includes the ability to write sentences that are linguistically and technically correct.
  5. All questions in the test are multiple-choice, and you will be asked to shade the answer sheet, which will help save time.
