Sakhir – University of Bahrain
04 May 2022
The Dean of Admission and Registration at the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Amal Zayed Al-Zayed, stated that the summer semester is optional, and for this academic year (2021-2022), it will offer courses of all levels starting from level 100 to 400 at the undergraduate level, and that the courses of the 300 and 400 levels will be for students of the third and fourth academic year of the bachelor’s degree, which were withheld by the University in previous years, as a number of them will be re-offered, considering that many students requested having courses of these two levels in the summer semester, as it contributes to accelerating their completion of the courses required for their graduation.
During the summer semester 2021-2022, all the University’s colleges will offer courses from level 100-200, while courses from level 300 and 400 will be offered by four colleges, namely: the College of Arts, the College of Business Administration, the College of Engineering, and the College of Health and Sports Sciences.
Also, Dr. Al-Zayed stated that the announced period for the pre-registration for the summer semester will be from 5 to 11 May 2022, and during the pre-registration, the tuition fees for the registered courses are not paid, and rather the summer semester operating expenses allowance is paid, then in the add and drop period – which will be from 16 to 19 June 2022, tuition fees shall be paid for the registered courses, and the classes for the summer semester shall begin on Tuesday, 21 June 2022.
Moreover, UoB had issued news that the optional summer semester courses are offered to those wishing to study in this semester, and accordingly, the fees for credit hours for registration will be according to the approved regular fees: 8 dinars per credit hour for Bahrainis, and 80 dinars per credit hour for those who do not hold Bahraini citizenship, in addition to an administrative fee allowance for the operation of the summer semester of only 50 dinars, and it shall be for all students who wish to apply for classes in the summer semester.
The Dean indicated that the summer semester operating expenses allowance is paid at the pre-registration period, so that the colleges can schedule the courses that students are interested in, and arrange for the presence of professors willing to teach during their summer vacation, and that the student can recover this amount in the event that the results of the second semester show that he failed a course that is a prerequisite for the course registered in the summer semester, if the student was dismissed academically at the end of the current semester, or if the course was canceled by the academic department in case the number required to offer the course was not completed.
