Dr. Amal Akleh, Dean of the College of Health Sciences, said that the University of Bahrain will offer a new MSc programme in Adult Health Nursing in the next academic year 2018-2019. The Program will provide theoretical and evidence-based clinical knowledge that is essential for comprehensive primary care and specialty practice in a variety of settings. The primary goals of nursing education remain the same: nurses must be prepared to meet diverse patients’ needs; function as leaders; and advance science that benefits patients and the capacity of health professionals to deliver safe, quality patient care.

‘The impact of emerging technology on nursing care and the urgent need for proper regional healthcare have prompted us to introduce this Program to enhance professionalism in nursing. The Program gives students the opportunity to acquire advanced knowledge of basic and specialized sciences. It also helps develop their cognitive and critical thinking skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on scientific evidence.’ added Dr. Akleh.

‘To be accepted in the Program, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in nursing with a minimum GPA of 2.67 out of 4 and must hold a nursing license. They must also provide TOFEL/ILETS results and recommendations letters from their former professors and employers. All applicants will be interviewed before making an offer of a place in the Program,’ explained Dr. Akela.

In developing this two-year Program, the University of Bahrain collaborated with many academics and specialists in the field of nursing. Master’s students are responsible for meeting all requirements for preparing theses at the end of the two years.
