Dr. Al-Mudhahki Receives Dr. Al-Asiri and Review Joint Cooperation in Space Sciences

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki, received, at the university’s premises in Sakhir, on Wednesday 17 November 2021, the CEO of the National Space Science Agency, Dr. Mohammad Ibrahim Al Asiri, and the Agency’s advisor, Dr. Mohammad Jassim Al-Othman.

Dr. Al-Asiri congratulated President of the University of Bahrain on the precious royal trust bestowed upon her by appointing her to her post. Then, the two parties reviewed the joint programs between the University and the Agency, aspects that have been implemented and those to be implemented in the coming period.

The President of the University of Bahrain stated, “Cooperation with the National Space Science Agency would open up new fields of knowledge for Bahraini youth, given that space industry involves many scientific disciplines in one field. This would create new paths for research, and fields of work, and contribute to stimulating creative energies to do their best to come up with the best solutions.” She noted that the University of Bahrain has harnessed its potentials for this purpose, due to the great scientific, practical and economic benefits of space industry.

For his part, the CEO of the National Space Science Agency referred to the fruitful cooperation between the University of Bahrain and the Agency, especially after the establishment of the Space Science Lab at the College of Sciences, which is expected to be a pivotal center for space research in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He indicated that the University of Bahrain is full of scientific and research energies, especially with the large number of students enrolled in graduate programs and the ambitious youth aspiring to engage in new fields of knowledge, concerned with integrating multidisciplinary scientific fields, for the benefit of space sciences.

The University and the Agency signed an agreement in December 2018 for cooperation, training and coordination, as well as the establishment of a center for space innovations at the University of Bahrain, which includes laboratories for building satellites and the establishment of a ground station for satellites at the university. Employees from both sides will work in the center and station, within the framework of cooperation and coordination between them.
