In its meeting held on Monday October 25, 2021, the University of Bahrain Council chaired by Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki, President of UOB, approved doing all final exams of the first semester 2021/2022 in presence. The Council also approved adjustment of moderation mechanism of repeated courses.

At the beginning of the meeting, the President of UOB, Dr. Al-Mudhaki welcomed all the attendees and thanked them for the great efforts they exert for the sake of promoting the three key pillars of the University of Bahrain; education, scientific research, and community service.

Dr. Al-Mudhahki stated “Since its establishment, the University of Bahrain has taken very important steps in supporting development in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and it has a significant impact on the position of the Kingdom in terms of the published scientific research. The outputs of the University of Bahrain are in demand in the labor market, and it always paves the way for societal transition to the future through its programs that keep pace with modern sciences in all fields and its effective partnerships with international universities.” Dr. Al-Mudhaki noted that the university will solemnly and steadfastly go ahead in order to continue its path in line with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.

President of UOB lauded the efforts exerted by the former university president, Professor Riyad Youssef Hamzah and the essential additions made during his presidency, which enabled the national university to occupy a prominent position on more than one level.

The University Council, during the discussion of some administrative and academic topics, approved conducting final exams for all academic courses in presence inside the university premises, starting from the first semester 2021/2022, stressing that all concerned bodies shall fully adhere to the precautionary measures to combat the Corona virus.

The council also discussed the issue of amending the mechanism for grade moderation when the student repeats a course, which consists of two parts; amending the mechanism for moderating the grade when the student repeats pass /no pass courses. The Council concluded that old and new grades obtained by the student for the same course shall not be calculated within the GPA. Instead, only the latest grade will be approved when the student repeats no pass courses, and that the higher grade shall be approved when the student repeats pass courses. The Council stated that this decision is made for the sake of students’ interest and achieving the maximum benefit from repeating the course.
