Dr. Bawawzir Presents Copy of PhD Thesis to Prof. Hamzah
Dr Hana Saeed Bawazir, a faculty member in the Department of Economics and Finance, has presented a copy of her PhD thesis entitled, ‘Liquidity, Liquidity Risk and Liquidity Systems in the Banking Sector,’ to Prof. Riyad Y. Hamzah, President of the University of Bahrain.
Prof. Hamzah congratulated Dr. Bawazir for successfully completing her PhD at the University of Southampton in the UK. He emphasized the importance of her research topic in fulfilling the visions and future goals of the Economic Vision 2030 as well as in enriching the University with highly qualified academics.In her thesis, Dr. Bawazir highlights the role of the guidelines outlined in the Economic Vision 2030 in enhancing public financial stability, economic developments and reforms. She also assesses the impact of the sharp drop in oil prices on the GCC countries in 2014. The findings of her study emphasize the importance of the Economic Vision 2030, which aspires to transform the Kingdom of Bahrain from an oil-based economy into a productive, globally competitive economy, shaped by the government and driven by a pioneering private sector.
As a faculty member of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Bawazir’s thesis also contributes to the significant role the University plays in implementing the National Development Strategy across government institutions as well as in the Economic Vision 2030.
