Dr. Essam Janahi Promoted to Associate Professor at College of Science

Dr. Essam Mohammed Janahi, has recently obtained the degree of associate professor in the Department of Life Sciences at the College of Science, University of Bahrain, following a recommendation from the Academic Promotion Committee at the University.

Dr. Janahi holds a PhD in Virology in 2007. He received his Master’s Degree in Molecular Biology and Viral Diseases with honors in 2002 at the College of Medicine, Imperial College London, UK. Prior to that, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with honors from the College of Science at the University of Bahrain in 1998.

Dr. Janahi has worked as an assistant professor of virology at the Department of Life Sciences at the College of Science from September 2007 until November 2017. He has been appointed Director of the Business Incubators Center at the University of Bahrain since 2016 until today.

Dr. Janahi has published nine papers in high-quality, global journals. His research interests focus on molecular biology for viruses, especially regarding hepatitis. He has special interest in viral epidemiology, antiviral mechanisms, characterization and analysis of viral genome mutations and the study of their medical effects, in addition to the study of genetic expression of viruses.
