Dr. Khorsheed Participates in World Statistics Congress in Marrakech

Chairing sessions and evaluating participants’ research

 

news 4 10 2017 2Dr. Eman Mohamed Khorsheed, Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the University of Bahrain, participated in research sessions at the 61st World Statistics Congress, organized by the International Statistical Institute (ISI) in cooperation with the High Commissioner for Planning under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco. The event was held in the city of Marrakech.

 

Dr. Khorsheed held a session entitled “Modern Statistical Methods for Multidimensional Data Applications”, and discussed the methods of application in practical life. She also chaired sessions for researchers and professors from the United States of America, the United Kingdom and Europe.

 

Dr. Khorsheed said that ISI had chosen her as a member of the Local Program Committee of the Congress, from which she participated in the process of evaluating the papers submitted to the Congress.

 

She explained that the Congress was attended by more than 2000 participants from 120 countries, representing various international universities, institutes of statistics, statistical associations and research centers, as well as some international organizations and establishments and private sector institutions. The Congress included more than 300 scientific courses and 200 research sessions.

 

The Congress discussed several topics including: recent developments in statistics, operations research and other related disciplines, official statistics, challenges of collecting and updating statistical data, innovative approaches to analyzing and disseminating data, technological innovations and their use in everyday life, as well as data revolution.

 

The Asian Council of Science Editors (ACSE) had chosen Dr. Eman Khorsheed as an ambassador. ACSE is a registered legal organization based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and is concerned with upgrading the scientific literature and research produced in Asia.
