Dr. Layla Al-Shaqri appointed Head of Chemistry Department

Assistant Professor Dr. Layla Mohammed Al-Shaqri has been appointed Head of the Department of Chemistry, College of Science at the University.

Dr. Al-Shaqri received her PhD from the University of Missouri, in Columbia (MO), USA in 2003, and a Master’s degree from the same university in 1995, while she received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Bahrain in 1988.

Dr. Al-Shaqri worked as a teaching assistant at the University of Missouri, Columbia (MO), USA, and as a general science teacher at Gulf Petrochemicals Company and Bahrain Natural Gas Company. She has experience in using a number of spectral analysis devices and computer programs used for kinetic simulation. She has research interests in the study of toxicity in some compounds manufactured on some organisms.
