Dr. Maha Al-Rashed appointed Head of Communication, Tourism and Arts

Assistant Professor Dr. Maha Sami Al-Rashed has recently been appointed Head of the Department of Communication, Tourism and Fine Arts, College of Arts, University of Bahrain.

Dr. Al Rashed has been the Director of the Bahrain Credit Media Center since 2008, and she has been the Director of the Media and Public Relations Department at the University. She is a member of a number of public relations committees in the public and private sectors institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Dr. Al-Rashed has several years of administrative experience at the University of Bahrain. She worked from 2003 to 2007 as a research and teaching assistant at the Department of Communication, Tourism and Fine Arts at the University and then as Assistant Professor in the same department since 2008.

Dr. Al-Rashed participated in scientific papers on Bahraini women leaders and Bahraini women in senior management positions at the Salford Postgraduate Annual Research Conference in 2007 and 2008 consecutively, in addition to the Young Leadership Conference held at the University of Bahrain in 2010.

Dr. Al-Rashed holds a PhD in public relations from the University of Salford, UK, for a thesis on leadership methods for Bahraini women in senior management positions. Before that she received a Master’s degree in public relations at the University of Leeds, UK, for a study on the role of academic qualification in public relations in performing the functions of public relations practitioners.
