Dr. Mudhahka Participates in the Conference of “Islamic Studies in Universities” in Abu Dhabi

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al Mudhahka, called for making coexistence, dialogue and understanding a top priority of the educational philosophy of humanities universities, particularly the Islamic ones.
Dr. Al-Mudhahka made this statement while participating in the conference titled “Islamic Studies in Universities: Towards Promoting the Values of Citizenship and Coexistence”, which concluded its works on Thursday November 24, 2022, at the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Humanities in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.
In her speech during a scientific session in the conference, the President of the University of Bahrain stressed the importance of dialogue between the various religious, cultural, and ethnic groups as it lays the foundations for peace and love throughout the world, which is witnessing conflicts in many of its parts due to misunderstanding and misconceptions of parties about each other.
Many scholars and professors from inside and outside the United Arab Emirates participated in the conference over three days. They discussed six themes, namely “Islamic Studies: Vision and Content”, “Islamic Studies, Research and Teaching Methods”, “Enhancing Islamic Sciences in Arab Universities”, “Islamic Studies and Knowledge Integration”, “Islamic Studies and the Promotion of the Values of Coexistence and Citizenship”, and “Religious Discourse and Society”.
Dr. Al-Mudhahka stressed the importance of including reference to the necessity of dialogue, understanding, and dealing with the other fairly in scientific courses of all the disciplines. She mentioned that the extra-curricular university activities should include a humanitarian dimension calling for paying attention to the fact that differences between peoples add significantly to knowledge and culture, and that cooperation, understanding, harmony and positive motivation must prevail in the world so that everyone can enjoy security and stability.
The President of the University of Bahrain expressed her optimism about the future of the region and its educational institutions. She stated, “God Almighty has blessed us in this region with wise leaders who are aware of the importance of dialogue and coexistence, and spreading the spirit of brotherhood and cooperation, because they have made full use of the lessons of the past to aspire to a better future.” Dr. Al-Mudhahka referred to the several initiatives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, may Allah protect him, including the King Hamad Chair for Interfaith Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence at Sapienza University, Rome, which is an initiative adopted by the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence, established in 2018, and the Bahrain Forum for Dialogue “East and West for Human Coexistence”, which was hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain in November 2022, and was attended by His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and His Holiness Pope Francis of the Vatican, Head of the Catholic Church.
The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka presented the University’s memorial shield to the Deputy Director of the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Humanities, Dr. Khalifa Al Dhaheri, shortly after the scientific session in which Dr. Al-Mudhahka participated.
