Dr. Shamlan Discusses Bahrain’s Clinical Legal Education in US Conference

News 15 03 2018 6During an international conference in the United States, Dr. Nora Mohammed Al-Shamlan, Director of the Quality Assurance Office at the Faculty of Law, discussed the role of the University legal clinic in enhancing education and access to justice.

Dr. Shamlan, Assistant Professor of Criminal Law, presented her paper at Externships 9 conference, held at the University Of Georgia School Of Law in the United States, from March 9-11, 2018. This year the Conference marked its 20th anniversary of the first Externships Conference in March 1997. Dr. Shamlan’s paper highlighted the developments in clinical legal education in Bahrain.

‘The paper reviewed clinical legal education in Bahrain, based on the principles of quality assurance to achieve the best practices in law, especially that Bahrain combined all legal clinics in one that also has the task of promoting the culture of human rights,’ said Dr. Shamlan.

Dr. Shamlan was the only female academic from the Arab world to participate in this Conference. Her paper was praised by many directors of legal clinics and education experts.
