Emphasizing the Importance of International Accounting in the Public and Private Sectors.. UoB “Business” Introduces Students to ACCA Certificates

In cooperation with the British Association of Certified Accountants, the Accounting Department of the College of Business Administration at the University of Bahrain (UoB) organized an introductory lecture for those interested in the fields of accounting, finance and business administration, under the title ” The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Short-Term Certificates”, on Tuesday (21 December 2021).
The educational official in the Arab Gulf region and a member of the Association of Certified Public Accountants, Taher Kabassi, stressed the importance of preparing students with knowledge and high-level skills to face challenges and changes in the labor market, and that is through several short-term certificates aimed at providing students with the latest information and skills that will enhance their capabilities and enable them to become financial leaders and professionals.
The lecturer Kabbasi reviewed some certificates, including: Certificate in International Auditing Standards (CertIA), Certificate in International Financial Reporting Standards (CertIFR), Certificate in Business Valuation, Certificate in Digital Innovation in Finance (CertDIF), Certificate in Digital Innovation for Finance (CertDIF), and Certificate in Data Analytics (CertDA), Certificate in Financial Technology for Business Leaders (Cert Fintech), Certificate in International Public Sector Accounting Standards, and Certificate in Sustainability Finance (Cert SF), among others. Furthermore, he pointed out that all of these certificates offered by ACCA are short-termed, accredited and characterized by easy access, being self-studied online, and have short study period, as the study period for these certificates ranges from 16 hours to 50 hours. In addition, these certificates are updated annually to keep pace with scientific developments.
For his part, the session director, Associate Professor in the Accounting Department, Dr. Gagan Kukreja, affirmed the efforts of the College of Business Administration to provide a high-quality educational service, within the strategy of UoB to meet the needs of the financial sector, and to strengthen the partnership with ACCA, to facilitate obtaining the best professional certifications for the students of the College of Business Administration.
In turn, the Head of the Accounting Department, Dr. Entesar Abdulaziz, thanked the lecturer Kabassi for his valuable presentation and his constant cooperation with UoB in working to acquire the students’ exemptions from the ACCA certificate, introducing the students to short-term certificates that provide them with the most important skills needed by the labor market, and encouraging students to acquire these short-term professional qualifications, for their importance in enhancing their chances of employment and reaching high and prestigious professional positions. Also, she thanked the faculty members of the Accounting Department who attended the lecture.
ACCA is one of the world’s most prestigious associations, as it was established in 1904, and it is a leading international accounting body in the field of legal accounting, and its qualification is internationally recognized according to international statistics, as it is the largest and fastest growing qualification in the world, with more than 200 thousand members, and more than 500,000 students, in about 180 countries.
