Exploring Opportunities, Challenges, and Technological Transformations UOB President Participates in the Meeting of Higher Education Institutions in the GCC

Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain, attended the 27th meeting of the Secretariat of the Committee of Education Officials in Universities and Higher Education Institutions of the GCC Countries, hosted by the University of Ha’il in Saudi Arabia.

The meeting aimed to foster cooperation between universities and higher education institutions in the GCC countries, supporting joint efforts to build an advanced Gulf society. It also focused on strengthening partnerships in the region’s higher education sector, in light of the significant global advancements in this field.

The meeting discussed educational and research trends and policies in the region, focusing on medical and diagnostic research through a symposium titled ‘Medical and Diagnostic Research: Between Reality and Hope.’ Key topics included the capabilities of scientific research centers in supporting the transformation of Gulf universities, challenges and opportunities in medical research and diagnostics, the role of digital transformation and artificial intelligence in healthcare development, improving the quality of medical and diagnostic education, and promoting technological innovation.

Dr. Al-Ansari emphasized the importance of meetings between Gulf university leaders to discuss the latest educational practices and developments across various fields. He highlighted the need for experience-sharing between universities in GCC countries, particularly regarding knowledge creation in modern societies, the use of artificial intelligence, and its positive and negative impacts on GCC societies.

Over 50 representatives from universities and higher education institutions across the GCC attended the meeting.
