Head Of Health Promotion: People Recovering from Covid-19 Can Get Vaccinated After Ninety Days

The Head of Programs Department in the Health Promotion Department at the Ministry of Health, Family Medicine Consultant, Dr. Fatima Hubail, stated that “People who got infected with the virus can take the vaccination after 90 days of infection.”

This came in a lecture organized by the Administrative Training Center at the University of Bahrain (UoB) on the virtual communication platform (MS Teams), during which the Head of Programs Department at the Health Promotion Department at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Fatima Hubail spoke about the “Importance of the Corona Vaccine”, as she answered inquiries and questions from several attendees, and explained that a person recovering from Corona can take the vaccination after ninety days, except for “health workers in the front lines and the groups most vulnerable to infection, as they can take the vaccination regardless of their level of immunity.”

On the possibility of a person being exposed to infection after vaccination, Dr. Hubail stated “The immune response varies between people, as it may not form enough immunity in the vaccinated person to protect him from infection but getting the vaccine may protect him from moderate to severe infection, and a person may get infected with the virus (Covid-19) and maybe a cause of its transmission to others if he gets infected.”

While regarding how to deal with the side effects after taking the vaccination, Dr. Hubail stated that “When the side effects occur, they are dealt with according to their type and severity. Simple symptoms such as pain at the injection site or headaches can be treated with painkillers, while severe symptoms require medical advice to be diagnosed and treated.”

Family medicine consultant Dr. Fatima Hubail advised that those who wish to get the anti-Corona-virus (Covid-19) vaccine shouldn’t have been sick with a fever or experience moderate or severe Covid symptoms before taking the vaccination and stressed that women should not be pregnant or planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding during vaccination, calling women to not become pregnant for at least three months after getting vaccinated.

Also, she considered that the speed of manufacturing vaccines came as a result of international cooperation, as the genetic heritage of the virus was distributed in January due to the advancement of technology, and vaccines were manufactured from several countries using traditional and new methods, all within the recognized scientific requirements.

Furthermore, Dr. Hubail said that “Vaccines are generally safe, and their benefit outweighs some of the side effects that result from them, noting that vaccines are manufactured through scientific experiments that go through several stages, during which their safety is ensured in the early stages of experiments, and their effectiveness is also ensured for their recipients to protect them from infection.”
