Judicial and Legal Studies Institute and University of Bahrain Launch a Series of Lectures on Career Development

The Judicial and Legal Studies Institute, in cooperation with the College of Law at the University of Bahrain, launched a joint lecture series last month aimed at developing the career path. The series began with an introductory panel discussion entitled “Your career in law: opportunities and challenges”, held at the University of Bahrain.

The discussion was moderated by Dr. Noora Al-Shamlan, Professor of Criminal Law and International Criminal Law at the University of Bahrain, in the presence of more than 100 law students. This lecture is the first in a series of lectures aimed at providing law students with the skills and knowledge needed to adapt to Bahrain’s competitive legal labor market.

The panel included a selection of legal sector leaders, including Professor Amal Al Abbasi, Managing Partner of Newton Legal Group, Dr Khaled Serry seyam, Chairman of the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute, Professor Gaby El Hakim, Group Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary at The National Bank of Bahrain B.S.C, and Professor AhAhmad Husain, Chief Executive Officer at the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR).

At the event opening, Dr. Salah Mohamed Ahmed, Dean of the College of Law at the University of Bahrain, stressed the importance of bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical experience, a key objective of the ongoing lecture series, saying: “This series is a unique opportunity for our students to learn directly from law professionals by providing them with practical insights into career development and current trends in the labor market.” And he concluded “We promise them to be competitive candidates after graduation”.

The monthly lecture series organized by the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute, in cooperation with the College of Law at the University of Bahrain, will include experts from a variety of legal fields. This month’s next session will focus on how to identify and assess opportunities in the legal field, helping students to assess career choices that are in line with their interests and critically identify their strengths.

Dr. Riyadh Seyadi, Director of the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute, noted the cooperative nature of the initiative: “Through our partnership with the University of Bahrain, we seek to empower students through knowledge and practical skills that are vital in the rapidly changing legal environment.”

It should be noted that this initiative strengthens the partnership between the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute and the University of Bahrain, thereby supporting their common goal of improving the employability of law graduates and enhancing their professional readiness in the Kingdom.
