Under the Patronage of His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the University of Bahrain Holds the Graduation Ceremony of the 24th Batch
Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may Allah protect him, and in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Higher Education Council Board of Trustees Chairman, the University of Bahrain held the graduation ceremony of the 24th batch of the UoB students (2017/2018 – 2020/2022 batches), at the university’s premises in Sakhir.
His Excellency the Minister of Education and Higher Education Council Board of Trustees Chairman gave a speech in which he paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, may Allah protect him, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may Allah protect him, for their care and support of the educational system in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He hailed the patronage of His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may Allah protect him, of this ceremony for graduating more than 11,000 male and female students graduated from this prestigious university.
His Excellency the Minister of Education noted the developments taking place at the University of Bahrain which aim to achieve more excellence, through the constant keenness to incorporate new academic programs that keep abreast with the latest global changes and meet the requirements of the labor market and the national priorities, through benefitting from international expertise in this field. The Minister also lauded the development of the postgraduate studies at the University, in terms of supporting scientific research and innovation to bolster the University’s standing at the global level, through continuing to obtain international accreditation for the various programs.
The minister congratulated the graduates and wished them every success in their future life. He commended the efforts of the UoB management, academic and administrative staff.
For her part, the President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, hailed the care and support of His Majesty the King, may Allah protect him, and the directives of His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may Allah protect him, which enabled the University to continue to develop and absorb graduates and qualify them according to the highest standards, to be able to contribute to the comprehensive development process.
Dr. Al-Mudhahka stated, “The University of Bahrain is fully aware of its pivotal role in the government work system, which seeks to support comprehensive development efforts, through turning into a productive and prosperous economy, in light of the care and support the University receives from His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may Allah protect him.” She noted, “The University endeavors to adopt the knowledge-based economy as the basis for development and improving performance, in a way that would help the university transform into a knowledge-based organization seeking learning and creating a culture of innovation and creativity.”
Dr. Al-Mudhahka highlighted the UoB’s 2023-2026 strategy to continue to develop the various academic programs and introduce other programs that keep abreast with scientific and technical developments, in addition to providing consultations that add value and introduce programs that serve the community to achieve the University’s mission in the various fields. She noted the support the University receives to continue to play its role and be one of the best higher education institutions in the region and the world.
The graduate of the Mass Communication program, Walid Al-Shaikh, expressed his pleasure at participating in this great ceremony. He gave the graduation speech, in which he extended his thanks to the sponsor of the ceremony. He expressed pride in belonging to the University of Bahrain, which graduated generations that contributed to the advancement of this great country.
Al-Shaikh stated, “The University of Bahrain is still witnessing great developments in the academic programs, which take into account the needs of the labor market” He noted the University’s endeavors to provide a modern scientific environment that motivates students and contributes to increasing their academic achievement.
Al-Shaikh concluded his speech addressing the parents, “We extend our thanks to our parents who have sought to instill in us the values of our great Islamic religion, and Arab customs since our early childhood. They urged us to study, and provided us with the ideal academic environment, which enabled us to complete our university studies. They are now so glad to reap the fruits.”
A video clip was shown during the graduation ceremony reviewing the beginnings of UoB and the course of its steady development and growth in the academic and research aspects. It also referred to some of the most prominent graduates of the University. Then, His Excellency Dr. Mohammad bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Dr. Jawaher Bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, the President of the University, honored the distinguished students and presented them with special awards marked with the names of Arab innovators and scientists. They also honored the postgraduate students.
It is worthy to mention that the University of Bahrain is holding 20 graduation ceremonies for its students registered in the festive program, on 19-29 January 2023, with two ceremonies a day, one in the morning and the other in the evening.
The number of honored students in the opening ceremony amounted to 369 graduates, 74 of whom were distinguished graduates, and 295 graduates at the postgraduate level.
