On Bahrain’s Youth Volleyball Team Winning Silver Medal Dr. Al Mudhahki: We Are Proud oof UoB Students’ role in Sports Achievements

The President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki, expressed her pride in the recent national sporting achievements, in which the students from UoB played a prominent role.
After the Bahraini youth volleyball team won silver for second place in the first West Asian Volleyball Championship for people born in 2003 _ Dr. Al-Mudhahki expressed the University’s pride in its students’ athletic abilities and advanced level, and their ability to compete in regional and international tournaments, stating that: “These achievements would not have been possible without the continuous support and firm will of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.”
She added, “The directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the Public Authority for Sports, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, in caring for youth and advancing their levels, have the most prominent role in facilitating students’ affairs in order to realize more sports achievements.”
As the Bahraini national youth volleyball team includes four players from UoB, namely: Hussain Ali Hussain Ehsan, Hussain Abdulredha Hassan, Sadiq Ja’afar Khalil, and Ali Abdulmajeed Al-Bosta. Also, the student Hussain Ali (College of Health and Sports Sciences) is one of the key players in the national youth volleyball team, won the best transmitter award.
In this context, the Dean of the College of Health and Sports Sciences (CHSS) at UoB, Dr. Lina Mohammed Khenji, praised UoB students’ performance in international and regional competitions, and confirmed the continuation of CHSS’s scientific and technical efforts to advance national sports to the levels that the Kingdom of Bahrain aspires to have. Stressing that students who represent their country in foreign sports competitions enjoy multiple facilities in order to keep pace with their colleagues in academic achievement.
In turn, Dr. Osama Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, Head of the Department of Physical Education at CHSS at UoB, said: “The Bahrain national youth volleyball team includes four student players from the University of Bahrain, out of 12 main players, which constitutes a third of the national team”.
Dr. Al-Sheikh indicated that UoB has a vision, through which it seeks to support the sports sector at the local, regional and global levels, by providing the national sport with qualified and trained sports and technical cadres who are able to compete in various sports.
