On the Occasion of the Chinese New Year, the President of UoB Receives the Director of the Confucius Institute at the University

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen AlMudhahki, received the director of Confucius Institute at the University of Bahrain, Qianwen Zhou On Wednesday February 2, 2022 and congratulated her and the faculty on the Chinese New Year, wishing the Republic of China and the friendly Chinese people further growth and progress.

The president of the university lauded the role of the institute in teaching Chinese language and culture since its establishment in 2014, through university courses for students as well as courses for those wishing to study the language from the various state ministries and institutions.

For her part, the director of the Institute thanked the President of the University for the university’s continuous support for the Center. She stressed the strong bilateral relations in the various fields between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the People’s Republic of China. She noted the Institute’s role in strengthening cultural and scientific ties between Manama and Beijing, as “A symbol of friendship and cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the People’s Republic of China.

It is noteworthy that more than one billion people inside China celebrate the Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year, as well as many Asian countries, including Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines.
