President of University of Bahrain e-Learning Awards

DETAILS

  • This recognition is organized by the eLearning center to encourage instructors and students to take advantage of the available resources and to acknowledge their time and effort in their e-courses.
  • The winners will receive certificates and will be honored by the university president in a ceremony.
  • The winners’ lists will be published on the eLearning center page on the university website.
  • An independent jury members will evaluate and score the submissions.
  • A form will be distributed to faculty to submit their courses in specific categories. Evidence must be submitted with each submission.

PERIOD

  • The period for collecting the data starts at the beginning of each semester (excluding summer) and ends at the last day of final exams.
  • Data will be extracted from the system the week after final exams.
  • Submissions from faculty members will commence at the end of each semester.
  • The distinguished faculty and students list will be announced on the following semester.

4th Category
Excellence in Course Design

Description

These certificates are awarded to courses that excel in design and enhance the learning experience. Nominated courses should feature a logical flow and organization, high-quality and relevant content and should adhere to design standards. Courses with the highest jury scores will be honored.

  • Logical Flow and Organization: The course content is well-organized, with a logical progression that aids learning.
  • Content Quality: The content on the online course is relevant to the subject matter and of high quality (design and resolution), content files on Blackboard should not be less than 10 files with different material and created by the instructor.
  • Accessibility: Course is accessible to learners with disabilities and adheres to accessibility standards. Ally accessibility file score must be High.
  • Courses should follow design standard (banners + colors + fonts)
  • Courses that were designed with eLearning Center help will be excluded.
  • The winning courses cannot be part of this category for the coming semesters.
4th Category
Innovative Learning Experiences

Description

These certificates are awarded to courses that showcase creativity and innovation in the learning experience. Nominated courses should feature unique elements, innovative content delivery, interactive components, effective multimedia integration, and cutting-edge technology to enhance learning. Courses with the highest jury scores will be honored.

  • Unique Features: Incorporation of unique or creative elements that distinguish the course from others.
  • Innovation in Delivery: Innovative approaches to delivering content and engaging learners.
  • Interactive Elements: Use of quizzes, discussions, simulations, and other interactive elements to engage learners.
  • Multimedia Integration: Effective use of multimedia elements such as videos, animations, and audio.
  • Technological Innovation: Innovative use of technology to enhance learning (e.g., VR, AR, AI).
  • The winning courses cannot be part of this category for the coming semesters.

Innovative Assessment Practices on the Blackboard Learning Management System

Description

These certificates are awarded to courses that employ assessment methods to measure student learning outcomes effectively. Nominated courses should demonstrate a diverse range of assessment on Blackboard, utilize detailed rubrics, offer constructive feedback, ensure alignment with course learning outcomes, and analysis of learning outcomes. Courses with the highest jury scores will be honored.

The College or Department with the highest use of goal alignment in the EAC tool will be honored.

  • Variety and Types of Assessments: Use of various assessment formats such as quizzes, essays, projects, peer reviews, and practical tasks.
  • Rubrics: Detailed rubrics that clearly define criteria for students, ensuring transparency in grading.
  • Feedback Mechanisms: Timely and constructive feedback provided to learners.
  • Alignment with Goals: Assessments are directly aligned with the course’s learning objectives and outcomes.
  • EAC: Efficient use of EAC visual data tool to view analysis learning outcomes.
  • Analytics: Use of data and analytics to track learner performance and improve the assessment strategy.
  • The winning courses cannot be part of this category for the coming semesters.
4th Category
Innovative Use of Technology for Learning

Description

This certificate is awarded to the most outstanding instructor who demonstrates the highest level of involvement in implementing new technology methods within the eLearning center. This initiative aims to motivate faculty to embrace and incorporate innovative technological approaches into their teaching methodologies.

High Accessibility File Score in Blackboard Learning Management System Cours

Description

These certificates are given to the most outstanding three e-courses with the Highest Ally Accessibility File Score, recognizing the effort instructors are putting to make their uploaded files accessible and reminding us that Accessibility is not an option it’s a commitment.

The College or Department with the highest Accessibility will be honored.

  • All university courses on Blackboard for the current semester are included in this category.
  • The winners are the top three courses with the highest Ally File Score.
  • Courses must have at least 15 files with material created by the instructor.
  • The uploaded files should comply with the basic standards design.
  • Ally File score must not be less than 95%.
  • Depending on who created the content, the instructor or the coordinator of the winning course will be rewarded.
  • The winning courses or courses with the same file content cannot be part of this category for the coming semesters.
  • College Deans, Head of Departments, Quality Assurance Directors, and the eLearning Center Director will be excluded as they have access to Ally data.
4th Category
Most Active e-Course on the Blackboard Learning Management System

Description

These certificates are given to three e-courses where both the instructor and the students are actively engaged in the course content, this honoring recognizes the instructor’s effort in using Blackboard and encouraging their students to be engaged.

The College or Department with the most active e-courses will be honored.

  • All university courses on the Blackboard for the current semester are included in this category.
  • Three courses will be selected as the winning course.
  • Courses that are developed with the eLearning Center assistant cannot be part of this category.
  • Courses will be selected upon several criteria; the criteria were set to count instructor and student average interaction per course:
    • Instructor interaction per Course (above 100)
    • Instructor must be active for at least 30 days in their assigned course.
    • Students Average Interaction per course (above 100)
    • Content Count (above 30)
    • Assignments and Assessments Activities were not counted. (Most courses require paper base examination)
    • % Average Activities by Course Content (above %90)
    • The course with the top %Average Activities by Course Content is selected
    • Courses that do not comply with the basic standards of instructional design will be excluded.
  • Data will be collected from Analytic Pyramid.
  • The instructor for the winning course will be rewarded.
  • The winning courses cannot be part of this category for the next three years.
  • College Deans, Head of Departments, Quality Assurance Directors, and the eLearning Center Director will be excluded as they have access to Analytics data.
4th Category
Most Active Instructor on Blackboard Learning Management System

Description

These certificates are given to the most outstanding active instructor on Blackboard and recognize the effort and time spent by the instructor on their Blackboard courses.

  • All instructors with active courses per the current semester are included in this category.
  • The instructor must be active in their courses of the current semester for at least 30 days.
  • The top three instructors in the university with the most interactions on their Blackboard courses will be selected in recognition for the effort and time spent on their Blackboard courses.
  • Data will be collected from Analytic Pyramid.
  • The winners cannot be part of this category for the next three years.
  • College Deans, Head of Departments, Quality Assurance Directors, and the eLearning Center Director will be excluded as they have access to Analytics data.
4th Category
Most Active Student on Blackboard Learning Management System

Description

These certificates are given to the most outstanding active students on Blackboard and recognize the effort and the time spent by the student on their Blackboard courses.

  • All students with active enrolled courses during the current semester are included in this category.
  • The student must be active in his/her courses of the current semester for at least 30 days.
  • The top 6 students in university with the most interactions on Blackboard will be selected in recognition of the effort and time spent on their Blackboard courses.
  • Students must not be under probation in the Academic status in the SIS.
  • Data will be collected from Pyramid Analytics.
  • The winners cannot be part of this category for coming semesters.
4th Category
Outstanding Use of Coursera

Description

These certificates are given to instructors who have encouraged their students to enroll in Coursera’s open online courses to enhance and enrich their courses and have achieved the highest course completion rate.

These certificates are also given to the most active students who have completed the greatest number of hours in Coursera’s open online courses.

The College or Department with the outstanding achievement and dedication to leverage Coursera Open Online Courses will be honored.

  • The certificate is awarded to the instructor whose students achieve the highest course completion rate on Coursera, which must be at least 90%. The total number of students enrolled on the Coursera platform is also considered.
  • The certificate is also awarded to the student who has best utilized the Coursera platform, successfully completing the highest number of courses and hours.
  • Data will be collected from Coursera reports.
  • The winners cannot be part of this category for the coming semesters.
