Prof. Hamzah: Specialized Exhibitions Allow Students to Exchange ideas, Research and Expertise
Prof. Riyad Y. Hamzah, President of the University of Bahrain, said that “the effectiveness of specialized exhibitions does not only lie in their role as commercial and industrial activities, but they also play a significant role in knowledge exchange, allowing students to exchange ideas, research and expertise.†He also added that the participation of the University in Gulf INTERIORS enhances students’ knowledge of architecture, planning and design by familiarising them with the latest trends in these fields.
Gulf INTERIORS, an annual Gulf Exhibition for Construction, Real Estate and Interior Design, is held under the patronage of HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, on April 24-26, 2018.
Prof. Hamzah expressed his happiness that students from the College of Arts and College of Engineering and Interior Design are displaying their work in the exhibition, stressing that the University is keen on creating interactive environments for students to help them develop their abilities and innovation skills.
The works of more than 50 students from both colleges will be featured in the Exhibition.
Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al Ansari, Dean of the College of Engineering and Interior Design at the University of Bahrain, said “participating in this exhibition, which attracts various companies, is a great opportunity for students to show their work and keep up with industry trends.â€
The College is keen on meeting the labour market and employer’s needs by continuously working on curriculum development, conducting academic programme reviews and introducing new academic programs, added Dr. Al Ansari.
Dr. Hafra Jaafar Al-Sheikh, Faculty Member at the College of Architecture and Interior Design, said that students’ work displayed was carefully selected by several faculty members based on specific criteria. In addition to first year student design projects, graduation projects on the Design of media cities, universities, hospital complexes are also featured in the Exhibition.
