Prof. Hamzah Stresses the Importance of Technical Infrastructure to Enhance the Distance Learning Process 

 

The President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Prof. Riyad Yousif Hamzah, confirmed that the efforts made by UoB are distinguished efforts to confront the Corona pandemic, and thus contributed to gaining the trust of the beneficiaries of the distance education process due to the Corona pandemic (Covid-19). 

This was during the participation of Dr. Hamzah at the first annual Conference of the American University of Bahrain entitled “Innovative Learning and Teaching Conference 2021: Lessons from Covid-19”, which was held virtually on 24-26 May, in the presence of a number of university presidents, researchers and those concerned. 

The President of UoB stated that “The stability of the technical infrastructure contributes to the stability and continuity of the educational process.” As he highlighted the efforts of UoB in ensuring the continuity of academic operations during the Corona (Covid-19) pandemic, and the University’s successful experience in digital transformation during this period. 

Prof. Hamzah explained that UoB has taken deliberate steps to implement the digital educational process to ensure its success. This came as an part of UoB’s orientations to continue improving education outputs and upgrading the academic system and the University’s global reputation following its strategy, which includes focusing on national and regional priorities in programs and scientific research, to be compatible with the best regional and global academic practices, to keep pace with changes in the higher education sector, and to continue the partnerships that the University initiated with prestigious international universities. 

Moreover, the President of UoB praised the outcomes of the first Conference of the American University of Bahrain, which dealt with several axes on lessons learned from (Covid-19), calling at the same time for educational institutions to increase and strengthen existing partnerships to benefit society.
