Professor Nouman Al-Mousawi Publishes a Book on “Measurement, Evaluation and Statistics”

Professor of Measurement and Evaluation in the Department of Psychology at the College of Arts at the University of Bahrain (UoB), Prof. Noaman Saleh Al-Musawi, has recently published a book entitled “Measurement, Evaluation, and Educational and Psychological Statistics”.
The publication is one of a series of specialized scientific studies issued by the Kuwait Society for the Advancement of Arab Children.
Professor Al-Musawi explained the book is a summary of his academic and professional experience in the fields of measurement and educational and psychological evaluation, publishing academic research in this area in peer-reviewed (refereed) scientific journals, and teaching measurement, evaluation, educational statistics and psychology courses at the University of Bahrain for students and teachers of various scientific and literary majors, at the bachelor’s, higher diploma, and master’s levels for a period of more than thirty years.
Prof. Al-Musawi pointed out that, “The book’s aim is to familiarize students and teachers with the basics of measurement, evaluation and statistics, the latest practices related to educational and psychological fields, and how to apply them in the practical field.”
The book is divided into five integrated chapters. In the first chapter, the author dealt with the basics of educational and physiological evaluation, focusing on the concept of educational measurement with a historical background, the concept of psychological evaluation and its components and characteristics and the foundations determining its uses in the field of psychological and family counseling. In the second chapter, the writer touched on foundations and criteria of designing psychological tests. In the third chapter, the author dealt with the means of psychological measurement and evaluation and the characteristics of a good evaluation method. In the fourth chapter, the author focused on the basics of measurement and evaluation in family counseling. The fifth chapter was devoted to reviewing the statistical methods used in analyzing the results of psychological tests and measures, methods for testing hypotheses, and various techniques of statistical inference.
The author took into account writing in a simple and clear style, so the educational and psychological concepts contained in the book are easy to understand, and the content of the book touches on the interests and tendencies of specialists and practitioners in the field of measurement and evaluation in Arab countries.
It is worthy to note that Professor Al-Musawi has authored several books and co-authored some others in the fields of measurement, evaluation, education, and psychology. He also conducted many scientific studies that have been published in refereed scientific journals.
