Students of the Islamic Decoration Course at the University of Bahrain Display 13 Innovative Products

The students of the Islamic decoration course at UoB held an exhibition of their products, which included 13 innovative products that varied between home accessories and fashion products.
The M Square Home sponsored the exhibition entitled “Hybrid” in the presence and patronage of the Chairman of the Architectural Heritage Association in UAE, Engineer Rashad Mohammed Bukash, and a group of referees, including Bahraini engineers and artists.
The Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Bahrain, Dr. Sheikha Haifa bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, stressed the importance of building bridges of cooperation with the private sector, to show the potential of students and provide them with the necessary manufacturing experience, to turn their ideas into tangible and innovative products suitable for the local market. She extended her thanks to M Square Home for its outstanding support for the exhibition, and hosting it over three days. Dr. Haifa hoped that such cooperation will last, which would contribute to developing and refining students’ skills, and helps preserve identity.
Faculty member in the Department of Architecture & Interior Design at the College of Engineering, teacher of Islamic Decoration Course, Dr. Nihal Ali Al-Morbati, indicated that the event, which is held in its 3rd edition and presents 14 university projects, aims to enhance the concept of professional crafts, through integrating modern technologies into them, in order to achieve sustainability of these traditional crafts.
Chairman of the Architectural Heritage Association in UAE, Engineer Rashad Bukash, referred that “Student projects would link heritage and modernity, as heritage should be lively and renewable so that young people can deal with it in a flexible manner, while preserving their identity and particular civilization.”
The member of the jury, Eng. Abdullah Al-Kandari, drew attention to technical aspects adopted by the students during processing the concept of craftsmanship, to emphasize the importance of integrating new manufacturing techniques, digital and three-dimensional mechanisms into antiques to achieve harmoniy between the spirit of heritage and the latest technologies, in innovative patterns.
For her part, referee Masoumeh Crof, from M Square Home, expressed her pride in the projects presented by the students, in which they could integrate heritage into various local tools. She stressed the importance of creating innovative platforms for young people to support them and provide them with the means that would open up new horizons for them.
Abrar Al-Nasser, one of the students participating in the exhibition, expressed her pleasure to present her project at the M Square Home exhibition. She stated, “It is nice that our commercial institutions take the initiative to support and encourage youth energies, to be able to compete in the labor market.” She added that, “It is inspiring to display our project in an exhibition founded by a businesswoman who was once a university student like us now, and could step towards success and excellence.”
