The Confucius Institute at the University of Bahrain Successfully Holds the Open Day

The Confucius Institute at the University of Bahrain held the open day, in collaboration with the Chinese Knot Club at the University, on Wednesday November 30, 2022. The event was attended by more than 300 male and female students. It was planned and organized by some student volunteers, under the guidance of the teachers of the Institute.

During the event, a series of Chinese cultural activities were held, including a Wishing Tree, Chinese Traditional Clothes Exhibition, Chinese Zodiac Paper Cutting, Traditional Chinese Sports and Games, Chinese and Bahraini Food Workshop, Guzheng Workshop, and a Student Information Desk.

For her part, director of Confucius Institute at the University of Bahrain, Qianwen Zhou, mentioned that this event represents the first major event held by the Institute since students’ return to the university campus. It reflects the Institute’s intention and aspirations to make its educational and cultural activities active and effective and to endeavor to develop the Institute.

On the same day, the Institute also organized an Exhibition displaying paintings and posters of Chinese characters and zodiac, in the lobby of the University’s central library. Teacher Zichi Ao, accompanied by some student volunteers, introduced the audience to the displayed pictures, which were produced by more than 100 universities in China and abroad.

The displayed pictures and posters were chosen by teachers and students of art disciplines in various universities in China. In addition, works by foreign designers from Spain, Korea, Russia, and other countries were displayed. The artists used their creative and artistic sense to express their understanding of Chinese zodiac and their love for Chinese characters. They cleverly used Chinese traditional culture, folk stories, and songs, to design a vivid picture of the Chinese zodiac.
