The Dean of the College of Health and Sport Sciences at University of Bahrain Presents a Plan to Develop Nursing Curricula

The Dean of the College of Health and Sport Sciences at the University of Bahrain, Dr. Lina Mohammad Khonji, presented the plan of the Nursing Department for the next stage, including integrating clinical simulation in the curricula of the Bachelor of Nursing, and employing modern technology and virtual reality in the fields of education and training in the nursing specialty. This took place at the meeting of the Council of the Scientific Society of Arab Nursing Faculties held on December 20, 2022, at the College in Salmaniya Medical Complex, in the presence of the deans of nursing faculties in the Arab world.

 

The Dean of the College of Health and Sport Sciences, Dr. Lina Khonji, started the Society’s twenty-second meeting with a speech as the Director of the WHO Collaborating Center at the College of Health and Sport Sciences at the University of Bahrain for development of nursing in the Eastern Mediterranean region. In her speech, Dr. Khonji explained the pioneering role of the Kingdom of Bahrain in caring for human resources in the health sector in general and in nursing.

 

Dr. Khonji also referred to the College of Health and Sport Sciences’ long history, its success stories, and the role it played in the development of nursing cadres in the Kingdom of Bahrain in the past years. Dr. Khonji also reviewed the development achieved by the College through introducing some specialized academic programs in nursing sciences to meet the needs of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national nursing cadres.

 

Dr. Khonji stressed that the meeting of the deans of the Arab nursing faculties is a good opportunity to enhance collaboration between the Arab nursing faculties, review the current challenges in the education and training sector of the nursing profession, benefit from the faculties experiences in this field, and exchange experiences with specialists. In addition, the meeting seeks to reach frameworks for implementing research projects between the College and other faculties of nursing and exchange the outcomes of research studies to develop the nursing profession in the Arab countries in the scientific, research and clinical fields.”

 

The deans of nursing faculties in the Arab countries discussed, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Scientific Society of Arab Nursing Faculties, Dr. Khaled Suleiman, the work of the Center of Excellence for Scientific Research affiliated to the Society, and the latest developments of establishing a guide to quality assurance standards for Arab nursing programs and future plans to hold international conferences in 2023 for nursing specialties, in partnership with the Arab nursing faculties, as well as announcement of the winners of the awards of excellence in scientific research, innovation and student creativity, as well as master’s theses and PhD dissertations.

 

The Secretary-General of the Scientific Society of Arab Nursing Faculties, Dr. Khalid Suleiman, thanked the University of Bahrain for hosting the twenty-second meeting of the Society and lauded the warm reception of the representatives of nursing faculties in the Arab world.

 

It is worthy to note that the Scientific Society of Arab Nursing Faculties affiliated to the Association of Arab Universities is the most important nursing society in the Arab world, and it has a total of 115 faculties, and aims to exchange experiences and build bridges of cooperation between Arab colleges to raise towards the regional and global level.
