The English Language Center at University of Bahrain Organizes a Forum for Students of the Foundation Program

The English Language Center at the University of Bahrain organized the “Forum for the Students of the Foundation Program” entitled (What’s up? University Life), on Wednesday November 16, 2022, under the auspices of the President of the University, Dr. Jawaher Bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka and in the attendance of more than 200 students.

Two faculty members at the English Language Center, Dr. Ahmed Farouk Al-Rubaie, and Dr. Wafaa Mohammad Youssef, introduced the foundation program students to several concepts related to university life in an interesting manner, using a theatrical theme and interacting with students through questions and answers.

The faculty members also referred to some difficulties students face, and how to overcome them, including academic pressure, lack of time, concerns, fatigue, responsibilities, self-study, English language, and making new friends. Students were also introduced to university life, as a stage for academic achievement, acquiring various skills, and building social life.

During the forum, the foundation program students’ common questions were answered, and they were urged to make the most of the content. In addition, students were introduced to the most important life skills for university students.

The lecture covered common misinformation students have. It addressed the meaning of a “bilingual person”, the impact of English language proficiency on students academically, practically, and personally, ways to benefit from the content of English language subjects, and life skills that a university student needs, including setting plans and goals, setting priorities, self-motivation, independence, initiative, and teamwork.
