The Inspector General and the President of UOB Inaugurate the Second Station of the Historical Photo Gallery

On the occasion of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Bahrain Police, His Excellency Major General Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Inspector General at the Ministry of Interior, and the President of the University of Bahrain (UOB), His Excellency Dr. Riyad Hamzah, inaugurated today the second station of the historical photo gallery held by the Ministry of Interior, in the distinctive presence of the University students and its affiliates.

The Inspector General explained that the inauguration of the gallery comes according to the directives of His Excellency Gen. Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, as the gallery will be at the prestigious UOB, the prominent scientific edifice that embodies the civilization of Bahrain and its leadership in the field of science and education, expressing his gratitude to the President of the UOB on the cooperation he showed in holding the gallery.

The gallery includes several sections, including a section for old photos and documents issued by the Ministry of Interior, such as passports and driving licenses, in addition to displaying police uniforms since its inception, all of which demonstrate the most important milestones in the history of Bahrain Police and its rich record in the field of maintaining security and stability.

Moreover, the Inspector General indicated that the gallery reflects the methodology of the Ministry of Interior regarding strengthening community partnership and communication with all groups and events, and comes within the framework of His Excellency the Minister of Interior’s keenness and interest in highlighting the history of the Bahrain Police as part of the national culture, noting that the Bahrain Police has witnessed many stages of development and modernization since its establishment, and throughout these years it was always close to the citizens, keen to spread security and reassurance, and meet all security needs.

For his part, Dr. Riyad Hamzah, President of UOB, thanked His Excellency the Minister of Interior for holding this historical gallery in the campus of UOB and for the wonderful organization of the gallery. Noting that this gallery shows the history of Bahrain Police in carefully selected and organized old pictures, and calling on the University students to benefit and view this gallery.

He further stated that this gallery is a great evidence of community partnership between UOB and the Ministry of Interior that existed over decades, and his pleasure and honor in holding such events at UOB that promote citizenship and belonging among students.

Also, it is expected in the coming days to witness a large presence by UOB students who have shown remarkable interest in seeing what these pictures and documents reflect of long periods of the history of Bahrain Police.
