The President of UoB Discusses Ways of Cooperation with the Digital Cooperation Organization

The President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki, stressed the importance of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s directions in digital transformation, as a pioneering national work methodology, in all areas of the comprehensive development process in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Noting that the University has started this transformation process since 2016.
This came during the reception of the President of UoB of the representatives of the Cooperation Organization at the University’s headquarters in Sakhir, led by the Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization, Dima Al-Yahya, where she discussed means of cooperation between the University and the Digital Cooperation Organization in the Organization’s respective fields.
Dr. Al-Mudhahki stated that: “The University of Bahrain has come far in digital transformation, and the efforts of those in charge of this transformation are clear and fruitful.” Indicating that all the University’s services and servers that were transferred to Amazon’s cloud computing, and that all admission, registration, finance and book sales operations are now electronic, stressing the University’s relentless pursuit to keep pace with the latest technological developments and its investment in serving the University’s digital transformation.
For her part, Al-Yahya stressed the role of the Digital Cooperation Organization in employing technology and seeking a digital future that serves the sustainable development goals, praising the distinguished experience that the Kingdom of Bahrain possesses in the field of digital transformation, and its effective efforts in regional and international cooperation in this pioneering and vital field. Also, she referred to the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support for the Organization’s efforts and work in order to achieve a promising digital future for all, especially for women, youth and entrepreneurs.
The meeting was attended by the University’s Vice President for Academic Programs and Graduate Studies, Dr. Mohammed Reda Qadir, the Dean of the College of Information Technology, Dr. Hessa Jassim Al-Junaid, the Head of the Projects Committee, Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, and the Assistant Professor in the Information Systems Department at the College of Information Technology, Dr. Amal Mohammad Al-Rayes. While the Organization was represented by Omar Al-Nimr, Director of Government Relations at the Digital Cooperation Organization, Saud Al-Gharimel, Director of Environmental Growth Relations, and Reem Al-Buainain, Head of International Communications Affairs at the Bahraini Ministry of Transport and Communications.
It is noteworthy that the Digital Cooperation Organization was formed when its establishment was announced in 2020 by five countries: the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the State of Kuwait and Pakistan. In April 2021, Nigeria and the Sultanate of Oman announced their accession to the Organization as two founding countries along with the five member states. The Organization aims to achieve a digital future for all by empowering women, youth and entrepreneurs, and developing the digital economy through leaps of development based on innovation.
