The President of UoB receives the President of NIHR

On Tuesday (18 January 2022), the President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki, received the President of the National Institute for Human Rights (NIHR), Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Durazi, at the University’s headquarters in Sakhir, in the presence of the Acting Dean of the College of Law, Dr. Salah Mohammed, and the members of the Institute’s Board of Commissioners, Dr. Fawzya Saeed Saleh and Dr. Bader Mohamed Adel.
The President of the University praised the tireless efforts made by the Institute in spreading the culture of human rights, protecting the rights guaranteed by the Constitution and international charters, and consolidating the values of human rights and raising community awareness of them, especially during the Corona pandemic, as well as the role played by the Institute and its members in following up on the application of standards related to the protection and promotion of human rights during the pandemic, noting the esteemed government’s interest in this regard for the citizens and residents of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in preserving their health, providing free treatment and vaccinations for everyone, and not to leave any group in society without care.
For his part, Al-Durazi thanked UoB President for the generous reception, and reviewed the most prominent tasks and achievements of the Institute in protecting and promoting human rights in the Kingdom, stressing the importance of strengthening joint cooperation to meet the desired aspirations and goals.
During the meeting, it was agreed to sign a comprehensive memorandum of understanding between the University and the Institute, with the aim of expanding the current areas of cooperation, to enhance joint activities, in a way that contributes to achieving awareness-raising and protection of rights and freedoms, through the preparation, organization and implementation of training courses, workshops and lectures in various common areas, and the rehabilitation of national cadres to enable them to perform their responsibilities at work and serve the Bahraini society.
