The University Council Approves Offering 8 Academic Programs in Six Colleges.. UoB Allows Obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree for Secondary School Holders in the Second Period.. Education Will Be Available to All Secondary school Graduates of All Ages

The University of Bahrain (UoB) Council announced the launch of bachelor’s programs for graduates wishing to join the University during the second (evening) period, in eight academic programs in six colleges at the University.
The Vice President for Community Service and Alumni Affairs, Acting Dean of Admission and Registration, Dr. Mohammed Saleh Al-Ansari, explained that this step comes after an in-depth study has been conducted of the demand for university education in the Kingdom of Bahrain and abroad, and the labor market’s need for specialized cadres in the available programs, in addition to the University’s orientation to exercise its responsibilities towards graduates who could not join the university in the first period, or could not do so in the past for various reasons.
During its meeting on Wednesday (19 January 2022), the University Council approved the offering of eight Bachelor’s programs: Bachelor’s in Business Analysis, Bachelor’s in Entrepreneurship at the College of Business Administration, Bachelor’s in Cyber Security and Bachelor’s in Computer Science – Cloud Computing at the College of Information Technology, and Bachelor’s in Law in the College of Law, Bachelor’s in English Language and Literature in the College of Arts, Bachelor’s in Life Sciences in the College of Science, and Bachelor’s in Nursing in the College of Health and Sports Sciences.
Moreover, Dr. Al-Ansari stated that the second period education will be regular and available to all secondary school graduates of different ages, provided that they graduate from secondary school with a GPA of no less than 70%, indicating that the admission process will include Bahrainis and non-Bahrainis according to the University’s capacity.
Also, those admitted to the second period programs are subject to all the regulations and laws that apply to students of the first period, with some differences that will be clarified in the study and examination system approved by the University Council.
The Acting Dean of Admission and Registration explained that the study for students enrolled in the second period – which will start in the second semester of the academic year 2021/2022 – will be from six in the evening until nine in the evening, however, some courses that require attendance in laboratories may start from four in the afternoon. Also, he stated that students enrolled in the second period programs are not required to have an introductory year, and the quorum of their courses will range from 6 to 15 academic hours in one semester, according to the student’s registration, and the fee for one credit hour will be 80 dinars.
Furthermore, Dr. Al-Ansari indicated that the submission of applications for admission to the second period programs will start from Wednesday, 26 January 2022 and shall continue to Sunday the 30th of the same month, provided that this is done through the Student Information System www.sis.uob.edu.bh. Regarding the documents required for submission, they are: a secondary school graduation certificate or its equivalent, a transcript of secondary school grades or its equivalent, the Ministry of Education’s endorsement of the educational qualification for students of private schools in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and proof of the qualification’s endorsement from outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, transcripts from the student’s previous university (if any), a copy of a valid passport, a copy of a valid ID card, and a personal photo.
