The University of Bahrain Honors its Sports Teams Winning “Gold Medals” in the University League

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen AlMudhahki honored, in the presence of the President of Bahraini Sports Federation for Schools and Universities, Dr. Sheikh Saqr bin Salman Al Khalifa, sports teams of the University of Bahrain, participating in the Universities League for 2021/2022 season, which was organized by Bahrain Sports Federation for Schools and Universities, in a ceremony held on Thursday March 10, 2022 at the University premises in Sakhir.

In the speech she gave at the ceremony, Dr. AlMudhahki said, “Our students have proven their excellence, with the varsity team winning the Basketball League Title as well as the Volleyball League Title, while the football team ranked fourth in the League, after being very close to qualifying for the final match.” She pointed out that these excellent results give the university great confidence and responsibility towards its players, to continue to provide more support and assistance, create all conditions that encourage excellence and achievement on a permanent basis, and identify the strengths and eliminating the negatives.

Dr. AlMudhahki added, “Participation in the competitions was a great opportunity to our students to demonstrate their sports skills and capabilities, and to compete with their peers in other universities, which would contribute to refining and developing their abilities, provide them with appropriate experiences, and enhance the physical, mental and psychological aspects at the same time, through making use of the experiences of the young coaches and the supervisors of the participating sports teams. She emphasized that students excelled in representing their university in the great sports forum at the level of universities in the Kingdom.

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. AlMudhadhi extended her thanks to the representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for his great support to Bahraini youth in all fields and First Deputy President of the Bahraini Olympic Committee, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for his great and continuous support and his keenness to organize the tournament despite the challenges of the Coronavirus pandemic. Dr. AlMudhadhi also extended her thanks to Bahrain Sports Federation for Schools and Universities, headed by Sheikh Saqr bin Salman Al Khalifa, for the good organization and preparation for the tournament which reflected Bahrain’s comprehensive renaissance in the era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the efforts of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

For her part, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Fatima Mohammad Al-Malki, sa, “The winning of UoB students in the League competitions is a triumph for all the students and affiliates of the University of Bahrain who take pride in this distinguished record of the University of Bahrain in all fields.” She added, “We look forward to the next season and hope to continue together on the road towards achievements in the upcoming participations, to maintain the distinguished position of the University of Bahrain.”

The player Mahmoud Abbas Issa (Physical Education major, Grade 2), winner of the title of best basketball player in the league, gave a speech on behalf of the players and the members of the sports teams participating in the league. He expressed his pride in the University of Bahrain for winning gold medals every year. He lauded the sporting achievements of UoB and extended his heartfelt thanks to all those who supported the sports teams both psychologically and logistically.

In addition to the sports teams, three students who won the league awards and titles were honored at the ceremony, namely Mahmoud Abbas Issa for winning the award of the best basketball player, Hassan Mohamed Al-Jadahsa for winning the award of the best football player as per the audience’s vote, and Ibrahim Mohamed Ibrahim for winning the award of the best volleyball attacker in position No. (2).

Musical groups participated in the ceremony and played songs, in celebration of the honored students. During the ceremony, a film entitled, “The Track of Heroes” was shown, which tells the sporting achievements of the players of the University of Bahrain.
