Two Faculty Members Participate in Human Rights Forum

Assistant Professor of Commercial Law at the College of Law, Dr. Riyad Mohammed Sayadi, and Assistant Professor at the College of Information Technology, Dr. Aisha Fouad Bouchkar, participated in the International Forum on Business and Human Rights, organized by the National Institute for Human Rights.

In the Forum, Dr. Sayadi presented a research paper entitled “Workplace: Challenges and Ambitions.” The paper discussed human rights in the workplace and covered several areas: workplace safety, health, and privacy violations; forced labor and child labor; the importance of promoting dialogue, transparency and participation in business policy making.

On the other hand, Dr. Bouskhar’s paper discussed several themes, including human rights in cyberspace, and the importance of cyber security.

Many experts and academics also presented a selection of papers related to business and human rights, which aimed to highlight the importance of the role played by the private sector in promoting and protecting basic human rights values stipulated in international charters, and the Constitution and laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
