Under The Auspices of The Minister of Education and Chairman of The Board of Trustees of The University UoB & Huawei Sign a Memorandum of Understanding to Establish an ICT Academy and To Enhance Joint Technical Cooperation

His Excellency Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Bahrain (UoB), sponsored the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding between the University and Huawei Bahrain, to establish the “Huawei Information and Communication Technology Academy” on the university campus, with the aim of providing the university with the latest technologies and enhancing students’ capabilities in the field of technology.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by UoB’s President of the University, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki, and by Huawei’s CEO in Bahrain, Ethan Sun.
The memorandum of understanding stipulates strengthening cooperation between the two parties to provide advanced training courses through the information and networking program approved by Huawei (HAINA) for both academic staff and students, and Huawei will seek to provide the Company’s global experience and all requirements that will prepare the future generation to lead the digital transformation process in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
In addition, the two parties will monitor the program and make suggestions for continuous improvement, work collaboratively to explore other opportunities for collaborative partnerships, and strive to build a mutually cooperative relationship that aligns with the strategic goals and values of both parties.
On this occasion, His Excellency the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of UoB expressed his thanks to everyone from the University who contributed to the conclusion of this memorandum, stressing its great importance in enhancing the digital skills of the University’s employees, as well as enhancing their expertise and raising their capabilities in line with the rapid technological developments, and in line with future local and international needs.
While the President of UoB affirmed that through this cooperation, the University seeks to establish an academy dedicated to information and communication technology, develop academic materials and laboratories, and align the learning experience with the expected level required by current and future applied skills, paving the way for more projects such as technology-based specialized laboratories, and strengthening cooperation in training and common interests.
Furthermore, Dr. Al-Mudhahki added that, “Considering the fact that the Kingdom of Bahrain is at the forefront of digital transformation, it spares no effort in preparing a talented workforce with a variety of ambitious initiatives and plans that accelerate this transformation, and as the leading national university in the Kingdom, UoB recognizes the importance and necessity of cooperation with leading institutions,” noting that the partnership with Huawei contributes to digital transformation, and benefits faculty members, university students and Huawei alike.
For his part, CEO of Huawei Bahrain, Ethan Sun, stated that: “The cooperation with UOB to establish the Huawei ICT Academy comes in line with our ongoing efforts to empower local talent and enhance the digital ecosystem of the Kingdom of Bahrain by investing in the young generation and providing unique opportunities that enable them to lead in this field, contributing to the realization of their country’s national vision, and advancing its long-term economic growth.”
Also, Sun further stated that: “We are proud that we have established 1971 academy around the world within the Huawei ICT Academy program to date, and we are pleased to welcome UoB to this program and affirm our commitment to provide training programs, the necessary expertise and accredited certificates to empower young talents in the Kingdom through this platform.”.
