UNESCO Publishes Online Case Study on IQA System at UOB

News 15 03 2018 2aNews 15 03 2018 2bThe United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) published a series of case studies online in which eight universities shared their experiences on building innovative effective internal quality assurance (IQA) systems. It included a case study about the University of Bahrain entitled “From Externally to Internally Driven Quality Assurance.”

The case study, which brings to the forefront the impact and effectiveness of IQA Systems on enhancing Higher Education and employability, is a guide for higher education institutions planning to design and develop their own systems. It provides useful guidance to national and institutional policy makers and quality assurance officials, by presenting the latest international trends in internal quality systems, including innovative practices and principles.

“As part of an international research project launched by the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP-UNESCO), this case study generates knowledge to provide evidence-based policy advice to higher education institutions on existing innovative and cost-effective solutions for IQA systems in universities. From China, Austria, Kenya, Germany, Bahrain, Bangladesh, South Africa, and Chile, eight universities shared exclusive detail on the evolution of their IQA systems, their impact and main lessons on how to use IQA to ensureNews 15 03 2018 2c acceptable standards of education, scholarship and infrastructure are met and continually enhanced,’ said co-authoer Dr. Bassam Mohammed Al-Hamad, Director of the Center for Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation of the University of Bahrain.

This study was prepared by Dr. Al Hamad and Mrs. Rama Al Adwan, Head of Projects of Quality and Excellence Section at the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center of the University of Bahrain.
