Union Among GCC Universities to be discussed

President of the University of Bahrain (UoB) Dr. Ebrahim Mohammed Janahi has welcomed the presidents of a number of GCC universities, who are set to visit the kingdom today, Sunday, to study a proposal to establish a Union of GCC Universities.

The proposal was launched during the ninth meeting of GCC Universities Presidents Committee, hosted last year by the King Saud University in Riyadh city.

The meeting tasked a small-sized committee, including a number of presidents of GCC universities, to study the scheme.

Dr. Janahi said that the way is already paved for establishing the union, in line with the directives of GCC leaders.

He added that the Union of GCC Universities project aims to enhance joint cooperation and coordination among GCC universities in order to upgrade high education across the GCC region.
