University of Bahrain Hosts Emirati Astronauts to Mark the Launch of Bahrain’s “Al Munther” Satellite

Emirati astronauts Mohammad Al Mulla and Nora Al Matrooshi shared their experiences in space during a virtual interactive session held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Sheikh Abdulaziz Hall at the University of Bahrain in Sakhir. The event marked the launch of the Bahraini satellite, Al Munther.
The astronauts emphasized the importance of investing in space, amid the rapid global advancements in fields like artificial intelligence, which is now being effectively used to enhance satellite technology.
The attendees gained insights into the essential preparations, as well as the physical and psychological readiness required for astronauts before embarking on their space journeys. The astronauts emphasized the importance of having a strong scientific background in fields such as engineering, physics, geology, and other related sciences to join the astronaut team. As well as the ability to work within a diverse team of various nationalities, languages, and cultures.
The virtual meeting, organized by Bahrain’s National Space Science Authority (NSSA) and Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) in the United Arab Emirates, was attended by students from: the University of Bahrain, six private universities, and several private schools across the Kingdom.
