BQA Chief Executive Congratulates the University of Bahrain

on Meeting the Quality Assurance Requirements for Cycle 2 of Institutional Reviews

Dr. Jawaher Shaheen Al Mudhahki, Chief Executive of the Education and Training Quality Authority congratulated the University of Bahrain on the occasion of meeting the quality assurance requirements for Cycle 2 of Institutional Reviews upon the approval of its review report by the Supreme Council for the Development of Education and Training chaired by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Council for the Development of Education and Training at its meeting held on Wednesday, 25 September 2019

This came during the CE visit to the University of Bahrain in Sakhir on Sunday, 29 September 2019, in the presence of the University of Bahrain President, Dr. Riad Hamza, and a number of officials of the Authority and the University, where the university was handed over a certificate of passing the quality assurance requirements issued by the BQA.

On this occasion, Dr. Al Mudhahki, the BQA CE said: ‘Teamwork by the higher education institutions and their cooperation with the Authority the relevant stakeholders in the education and training sector have established a new phase of success and excellence, where all stakeholders seek to institutionalize the culture of quality, promote and build up academic partnership, considering that universities in the Kingdom are moving steadily to achieve the goals of the Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, as well as the implementation of the requirements of the quality of education and training, which would put public and private universities in advanced rankings positions.

Dr. Al Mudhahki also pointed out that the level of the higher education sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain has become an attractive scientific environment for many regional and international universities to launch their academic programmes in partnership with educational institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and for many students and scholars in the Arab world to receive education in its academic and educational institutions. This indicates the Bahrain’s leadership interest in this sector. ‘The current scientific ranking of the University of Bahrain is the result of the efforts exerted by its leaders, administrative and academic staff, continuous support from the Government, plans and initiatives focusing on comprehensive and sustainable development projects, especially in this sector, and the support received within the Government’s Action Plan,’ she added.

On his part, the University of Bahrain President, Prof. Riad Yousef Hamza, thanked Dr. Al Mudhahki, the Evaluation Panel, and the BQA team for their outstanding efforts in evaluating and reviewing the systems and practices at the University of Bahrain. He also thanked all administrative and academic staff and students of the University of Bahrain for their role and team spirit to achieve this success.

‘The role of the Education and Training Quality Authority is one of the key components of the higher education system in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The University has succeeded in applying the culture of quality assurance and applying good practices to provide the best academic programmes and services for our boys and girls to contributing to realizing the Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 launched by His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain,’ he added.

The University of Bahrain President stressed that the quality and academic accreditation system has become one of the models for continuous quality development in the region, and the University of Bahrain seeks to implement an advanced quality system to keep pace with the latest global developments. The University will soon launch an advanced electronic system to manage the quality system to contribute to the automation of processes and upgrading the learning outcomes.
