OVERVIEW
After it was a division in the Public Relations and Media Department, the University Press was established on 22 May 2005 with an independent administration which is responsible for all the University publications such as books, journals, newsletters, brochures, specialized guides, administrational forms, ID cards, official papers and other publications that serve all University members of Academics and students. The printing press has become integrated and in the ranks of modern printing presses after being provided with the latest printing, direction, and montage machines and devices to establish its position with its distinguished production and by using the latest printing methods.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directing and art design works.
- Montage works.
- Printing on offset and copiers machines.
- Printing banners.
- Technical finishing works in the Production Division, such as binding, cutting, stapling, perforating and creasing.
SERVICES
- Designing of publications.
- Print editing for publications.
- Printing the following: books, journals, course materials, scientific journals, newsletters, brochures, and specialized guides, administrative forms, letterheads, business cards, notebooks, exam answer sheets, posters, conference booklets, course outlines, scientific research … etc.
- Photocopying the following: course materials, laboratory manuals, study plans, curricula, examinations, bulletins, course descriptions, advertisements … etc.
- Banners printing.
- Binding, stapling and perforating of the publications.
- Lamination works.
PROCEDURES
- Fill out the printing request with the name of an academic or administrative member.
- Fill out applicant information: name, working area, contact number, fax number, location (building and office number), date of receiving, application date, and the applicant signature.
- Determining the type of publication, such as a book, course material, brochure, letterhead, business card, examination, administrative form, brochure, notebook … etc.
- Attach a printed sample and electronic data of the publication for direction. The applicant may submit a directed work for direct printing.
- Specifying the publication description such as the color of the print, the number of pages, required quantity, publication size, and final finishing (both sides printing, stapling, binding, punching … etc.).
- Ensure that each publication has a separate printing request.
- Approval of the head of the department/division, department director, dean of the college/deanships.
- Approval of the Vice President for Information Technology Services and Administrative and Financial Affairs – except for exams that need the approval of the department head or the dean of the college.
- Sending the printing request with the attachments to the Printing Press Department.
