With New Features, Options, and Improved Accessibility UoB Completes the First Phase of Updating Its E-Application

The University of Bahrain (UoB) announced that it has completed the first phase of updates to the UoB App using new technologies, in an effort to improve services and increase interaction and communication between the University and its students.
The Director of the Information Technology Center at UoB, Wael Attia Abomesallam, confirmed the University continues to keep pace with recent developments in the technical fields and searches for technical solutions and is in line with the e-government orientations in the digital transformation of services.
He stated: “The University’s Information Technology Center has recently finished the first phase of developing UoB’s application for smartphones, UOB App, which serves the students of UoB,” noting “there will be future subsequent phases that include adding other services for students in addition to faculty services that are directly related to the student”.
Abomesallam expects this development to greatly contribute to increasing effective communication between student and faculty to support the educational process. He thanked the systems development team at the Information Technology Center for their efforts in developing services.
For her part, Head of the Systems Development Division at the Information Technology Center at UoB, Diya Ahmed Thani, confirmed the application was launched with a new, easy-to-use interface that improves the experience of accessing services. She added that the first phase witnessed the addition of student’s personal and academic data option, the addition of the notifications option to receive messages from the student information system (SIS) on the application, and the option to change the language between Arabic and English, with the ability to add today’s schedule, exams schedule, course list, student plan, student achievement report from the plan, the semester’s results, and the academic calendar in which the events and activities whose services provided by the Deanship of Admission and Registration are defined.
Also, she mentioned that the upcoming stages will include several updates, such as the service of viewing days of absence, tuition fees, opinion polls, and a course management service, including deletion and addition.
Moreover, Thani noted that the Information Technology Center at UoB is in continuous cooperation with the Deanship of Admission and Registration regarding technical services provided to students, and it is considering students’ suggestions and observations to develop all services directed to them.
It is worth noting that UoB App was launched in year 2017, to facilitate students’ access to university services and enable them to easily take few needed basic steps through their smart phones. The application can be downloaded from IOS and Android app stores.
